    A mix of economic example lesson plans and activities to use in math instruction. Useful ideas for ESL to ASE. Best practices in math and personal financial literacy. Lessons include student activities and background information on economic or personal finance content and how it relates to mathematics. These activities have varied lesson delivery styles that reach a variety of learning styles. Students can apply their mathematics to real world situations.     Abstract:

    A  preliminary first-year summary of the Adult Learner Leadership in Education Services (ALLIES) evaluation study undertaken by VALUEUSA is attached, as presented at COABE 2015. So far nearly 300 adult learners in six states have participated in this experimental study on the effects of student  involvement as leaders in adult education programs.  VALUEUSA's  two-year study is funded by Dollar General Literacy Foundation in partnership with Research Allies for Lifelong Learning.     This professional development workshop focused on how to include formative assessment techniques into regular learning activities. Participants experienced formative classroom assessments techniques (CATs) and learned how to integrate these techniques in their practice. Participants created a CAT adapted for their learning event and a plan to administer, document, and share the results as action research.
