Abstract: “It’s bigger than all of us” is how one Adult Education student describes his Family Literacy program. A Two-Generation/Family Literacy program is a powerful model which serves and empowers not only adult students, but also families and communities. Student voices, an NCFL award winning teacher, an administrator and former state director will share their experiences in Oakland, California: successes, challenges and lessons learned. Examples of the four-component national Family Literacy model and sample contextualized lessons will inspire and support implementation in your own Adult Education program.
