    The Penn State/Muncy tutoring program is a collaboration between Penn State’s Career Pathways program and SCI Muncy, a Pennsylvania female correctional facility. The tutoring program consists of trained tutors working with learners with a variety of educational goals. This webinar will outline the steps involved with development and implementation of the program. Webinar attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn how female inmates are making a difference behind bars.     Abstract:

    This webinar will focus on how to help low-literacy offenders before they enter the ABE multilevel correctional classroom. Participants will learn how to implement a well thought out program that begins with locating and assessing participants and leads to creating and implementing specifically designed instruction for each participant. Such a program will utilize pre-existing and free resources, very effective tutor training, and logistical cooperation by all involved in the challenging low tech correctional setting.
