English Education in a Workplace Context: Employer-sponsored Programs That Deliver Results
Abstract: There is a national focus on upskilling and reskilling workers for the jobs of the future, but immigrants, refugees, and speakers of other languages are often left out of these initiatives simply because they lack the English skills to participate. Enabling English learners with the skills they need to communicate effectively in the workplace is critical to equity and inclusion, promotes a collaborative working environment, and helps employers promote from within. Adult educators can play a critical role in workplace-based programs that build bridges from foundational skills to industry-recognized competencies and credentials, but to do so, they need to rethink old and outdated instructional models. This webinar will illustrate innovative best practices for adult educators who want to offer scalable and effective employer-based instruction, including real examples of programs and tools to measure impact and success.
