Abstract:
As of April 2020, estimates of the literacy and numeracy skills of U.S. adults using data from the Program for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) are available for all states and counties. This webinar will demonstrate a new, and interactive user-friendly tool (called the U.S. PIAAC Skills Map) that shows these estimates. The Skills Map allows users to compare the estimates of any county to those of its state or compare the estimates of any state to the national estimates. It also allows users to compare the estimates for any two counties or for any two states. Examples on how you can effectively use this tool for funding and policy decisions on targeting the population most in-need will be provided. Abstract:
In the midst of the global pandemic, adult educators have been challenged in unprecedented ways. The adult education system is responding to widespread classroom closures by remaining connected to learners through distance education and helping learners continue to learn. The fast pivot to distance learning has raised numerous questions that OCTAE answered through its Frequently Asked Questions series of Program Memorandum. This webinar will answer the most frequently asked questions about performance assessment and reporting of distance learners during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting additional performance flexibilities to help adult education programs implement and expand distance learning programs.
