As the country shut down in March 2020, adult learners were suddenly stuck in an all-digital world. Digital inclusion leaders developed the Digital Navigators model in response, and trainers like Byte Back reached adults without access to the internet, a laptop, or foundational computer skills. In the wake of COVID-19, adult ESOL learners have had the challenge of adapting to remote learning on their own. Learn how a public charter school in D.C. has met this challenge through scaffolded student learning, teacher training, and differentiated digital literacy instruction. In a time of uncertainty, many educators have been thrust into virtual teaching with little in the way of support. This webinar will share lessons learned from the PHL Technology and Adult Education Initiative, an ongoing community of practice where Philly-based educators advance their use of technology through collaboration and inquiry with peers. The purpose of the campaign toolkit is to provide outreach materials and language to help adult education organizations with proactive tools to communicate the value of adult education and how they can support adult learners during the COVID-19 pandemic.
